To ski wax properly it is essential that you have a good quality special purpose ski wax iron. Similar in design to the standard household iron for clothes, the ski waxing iron is more developed. Temperature is all important in the application of ski wax so the ski waxing iron has more accurate temperature controls than the average household iron.
With the temperature controls being more accurate on the waxing iron you are assured of not having any excessive temperature spikes or drops. This is good for the wax as many waxes have different application temperatures to get the best results and best penetration into the base of the ski. The last thing you need is for the wax not to melt to it’s best optimum performance level. A high quality ski wax iron is not a cheap tool to purchase, but once you have one and take good care of it there is no reason why it should not last you a lifetime. Whenever you finish using the iron, ensure that you always clean it. Not only does this keep the ski wax iron in good condition but it prevents waxes from precious applications becoming mixed with the present application and contaminating the wax mixture.

Maplus Ski Wax Iron by Maplus
This Maplus Waxer is new from Japan. It can be used for both skis and snowboards and is 800W and 110V. The hotplate design on this tool is patented. The patented arc shape of the hotplate lets the wax flow to the centre of the iron when you are applying it. This is great as it reduces waste and overflow to the sides of the ski or snowboard. There is temperature control and a built in thermometer gives the tool accurate and precise temperature control. There is also a pilot light that will illuminate, but only does so when the temperature of the hotplate is rising. A nice ski wax iron for the occasional skier who waxes their own skis once in a while. A useful tool to own to apply your ski wax.
Other differences include the base of the iron. The ski wax iron has a thicker and smoother base. The

reason for having a thicker base is that it helps you to keep the heat evenly distributed all over the surface of the iron. You really need this in order to achieve a smooth, thorough application of ski wax onto the ski base.
