All insurance policies differ and it is recommended that if you do decide to have health/medical/life insurance, to speak with your specific insurance company stating what requirements you desire. They then of course can make up a policy especially for you and your requirements.

Ski wax is pleased to offer you these recommendations and advice, but we all know the elements of risk,so if you are going skiing then have a greatt experience is all we say at ski wax.

Never go skiing or hiking alone in an avalanche risk area. Always carry  an avalanche probe, a sectional pole that fits together to create a probe of up to eight feet in length.

As with most things in life you never know what/will or when something bad or an accident will occur. Skiing is a great outdoor activity but with it comes an element of risk.As with most forms of outdoor activity it is always recommended that one has some kind of travel/medical/accident insurance.Dont leave home without one !!

How To Survive An Avalanche

Insurance

There are ski poles out there on the market which are threaded and can be screwed together to form avalanche poles. Always try to learn where and when avalanches are likely to occur. Avalanches tend to occur in areas with new snow on

the mountain side facing away from the wind. In the afternoons of sunny days ,when the morning sun may have loosened the snow pack. They occur mostly on mountainsides with angles of thirty to forty-five degrees, the most popular slopes for skiing.

There are numerous factors that can trigger an avalanche, including recent snowfall, wind and sunlight. Loud noises do not cause avalanches unless they cause significant vibrations in the ground or snow.

The activity with the most avalanche risk is snowmobiling as snowmobiles are light and powerful and can get high into mountainous terrain where avalanches occur.

1-- Try and stay on top of the snow by using a freestyle swimming motion.

2-- If you are buried your best chance of survival is if someone saw you get

Covered. The chances are if you are buried you are too injured to help

Yourself. But however if you are able to then try and dig a small hole and

Spit in it. The saliva should head downhill, telling you which way is up. Dig

Up and do it as fast as you can.

3-- If you are partially buried, you can dig your way out with your hands or by

Kicking at the snow. If you still have a ski pole poke through the snow until you          see or feel open air. Then dig in that direction.
